Tag rugby club takes place in the autumn term.
We run our own schools festival for year 4 and 5 children in September with Whitgiftian Junior Rugby Club. Sixteen schools take part in an hour of training followed by a festival. This year was the fourth running of the festival. The previous three had seen us walk off with the winners trophy but this year, it was Regina Coeli who snatched a ‘golden try’ after the scores had finished level at the end of extra time. Our children were disappointed but sporting in defeat. All sixteen teams enjoyed a bowl of spaghetti bolognaise before heading home.
The School Games tournament changed from Rugby Union to League and our team struggled with the change of rules and much slower game. For the first time in a number of years we failed to make finals day but rugby is still growing within the school. More and more children are joining clubs outside of school.
