School Meal Menu
Christmas Meal Menu on Wednesday 6 December
Changes to School Meal Menu on Tuesday 5 December
Please note the lunch menu on Tuesday 5 November will be:
Main: Beef Lasagne
Vegetarian: Pasta with grated courgette and nut free pesto
Dessert: cheese and crackers
Please note that all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a Free School Meal (FSM).
You may have seen news items over the last few months regarding free school meals being offered to all children in years 3-6 for the academic year 2023_2024. If you have a child in year 2, this means that for next year you do not have to worry about paying for their school dinners next year when they move into year 3. There is no change for children moving into reception, year 1 and year 2; they will continue to receive free school meals as they have done for a number of years.
To read more about this, please see this letter from the Mayor of London's office explaining this change.
This will not have any impact on the way we offer meals to pupils, and you can still decide to provide your child with a packed lunch on any given day(s). If your child does decide to have a school dinner, they will be asked to make their choice every morning after the register is taken in class so please make your child aware of what is on the menu if they are having a school dinner.
Please note that at the time of writing, this change for primary aged children is only for the next academic year (September 2023 to July 2024).
If you think you might have a FSM entitlement, we would encourage you to apply for this. This is even if you intend to provide your child with packed lunches, or they are currently in years R/1/2 and are receiving a free meal under the governments Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM) scheme. If you do have a benefit related FSM entitlement, then you will then receive food vouchers during school holidays and your child will be able to attend holiday activity clubs with food free of charge. There are also other benefits such as free school milk and reduced cost music lessons with Croydon Music and Arts.
The school receives a sum of money called the pupil premium grant for each child who has a FSM entitlement. You can see how we use this money by looking at our Pupil Premium Grant Strategy.
You can find out more about who is eligible for FSM on the Croydon Council website and you can check your entitlement using the LGfL Free School Meal Eligibility Checker. If you require any assistance making the check, please contact the school office in confidence.
